Join NWIPA for two days of paddling and a night of stories, food and fun!
NWIPA has reserved a group camping area at the Indiana Dunes State Park for you to
join your fellow paddlers for two days of fun paddling and hanging out. There will
Stay for one night or two in the group camping area with your fellow paddlers, hike the dunes if you wish, and just enjoy a weekend off from the rat race.
Come Friday night and camp for two nights, come Saturday and camp for one night, or just come and join the fun for one day!
Sea kayaker, rec boats, and canoes are all welcome. Not up for paddling Lake Michigan?
We have suggestions for other nearby places to paddle!
Email Maggie for more information.
Friday night there will be a sea kayak paddle on Lake Michigan. Meet at 6 pm in the West Beach Parking Lot.
Saturday evening we will plan to have a pot-
All we ask is that you R.S.V.P. so we know how many paddlers to expect.
We ask campers pay $5 to help cover the cost of the camping fee. Pay easily through safe and secure PayPal.

We have reserved Youth Ten Sites Nissaki 2 and 3. As you can see from the map, it is primitive camping, with only vault toilets available. Please make sure that everyone who intends to camp is aware of this. Check in time for group camps is 3pm, check out time is 12pm. We have decided that it would be best to designate Nissaki 2 as the "early risers" campsite, so that folks who want to go to bed early will not be disturbed by those who wish to stay up later. Nissaki 3 will be our "social" campsite, where the pot luck dinner will be on Saturday night. This way, we will also not disturb our neighbors at Nissaki 1, whoever they may be.
There is a maximum parking capacity of ten cars per site, so if our campers see that the parking lots are starting to fill, they should drop off their camping gear, and leave their cars at the overflow camping for the regular campground. Security is on duty 24 hours, and the Park closes at 11pm, so it will be safe to leave the cars in that parking area.
There are NO RVs allowed in the youth camping sites. This includes pop-
To minimize the spread of invasive species such as the Emerald Ash Borer Beetle,
please do not bring firewood to the Dunes from outside of Porter County. Raccoons
and other critters can be a problem, so please do your best to be responsible, and
don't leave any food out. Make sure it is in some kind of hard-
The weekend is intended as an opportunity to get kayakers together and do whatever they want, whether it is practicing skills, going on a day trip on Lake Michigan, hanging out on the beach, or going for a hike. It is unstructured to accommodate that, and there will likely be several different groups of people doing different things. It is completely up to you. The only things that are scheduled are the sea kayaker paddle on Friday night at 6pm, and the pot luck dinner on Saturday night.
All other meals are on your own. Chesterton has a large array of great restaurants. We can have tourism brochures available with those details. Again, no alcohol is allowed in the Park.
