Update to Indiana Dunes Lakeshore Expedition for August 13th.

When given lemons, we are going to make some lemonade!

Due to the worsening marine forecast for tomorrow (thunderstorms, N wind, 15 mph, 2-3' waves) and only 4 or 5 paddlers that said they were still interested in doing the paddle, we are going to cancel the expedition.

Instead, we are going to still try to do something fun!

At our Wells St. Beach starting location, we are going to host an unofficial surf day at the beach for those that still would like to get out on the water. We are planning to meet at Wells St. Beach at 10:00 am. If we end up with thunderstorms, we may still have to cancel all together, but we wanted to not just call off all of the event.

Wells St. Beach is a nice great beach for catching some surf waves and having fun. To get there, take US 12 to County Line Road South which is the road you take to get to West Beach. Take County Line until it ends. Turn left on Oak St. and one block past it you find Wells St. Beach.

We may try again next year to do the Expedition.

Finally, if you really would like another shot at getting out and paddling the lake, next weekend NWIPA is hosting our 9th Annual Ride the Wave Regatta Canoe and Kayak Races www.ridethewaveregatta.com

We are in desperate need of some safety paddlers on the water to observe the race and assist if necessary. Please contact me at dkplath@gmail.com if you would be interested in helping out. We sure would appreciate it!
